An off day is a win in our books!
Ah, an off day. A day to sit back and take a breather from this long haul of a season and to look forward to the scum from L.A. arriving in our territory for the biggest series of the 2009 campaign for the Giants.
This after the biggest letdown of the 2009 season, watching, “The Team That Bochy Could…” blow another big series.
What’s that you say? Oh, yes it was against the Padres. And yes, that was a total of 5 runs scored against Kevin Correia and Chandler from Friends. Sure, even Timothy Leroy Lincecum, –the best starter in baseball — is allowed to miss a start once or twice in his career. And as much as Brian Sabean and the hidden braintrust behind the Orange and Black want to believe, a season with this anemic of an offense can’t be put on the shoulders of a pitching staff.
The day they signed Brady Penny, who I will admit has been a great acquisition to solidify our rotation, I imagine their morning conference went a little like this:
Sabean: “Good morning gentlemen! So Brad Penny, the big 6’4 righty was waived today and I think we should give him a go! I mean hell, we’ve missed out on Vladimir Guerrero, Alex Rios, Torii Hunter, Jermaine Dye, Adam Dunn and Mark DeRosa just to name a few. Let’s give Brady Penny a shot!”
I know what you’re thinking: There’s no way the Giants could have afforded any of those players. You’re absolutely right! A team which has averaged over 35,000 per game in attendance since 2001 has no money to go out and get a bat.
Yes, Brian, some of that money has been spent but probably not in the best of ways. See Ray Durham, Rich Aurilia, Edgardo Alfonzo, Dave Roberts etc. So with Cain, Sanchez and Penny all set to take the bump this weekend, here’s to Buster Posey taking a step onto the big boy’s field and Bochy listening to Wotus more.
Go Giants.

I can’t stand that guy, I can’t stand our upper organization.. Why can’t we just be GOOD?
I can’t wait for tonight, let’s kill the stupid ass dodgers!!
