4.14.10: Live Blog- Whiteside homers, Giants 3-hit Pirates, win 6-0

Well, Bruce Bochy’s colors have finally showed. Using Sergio Romo and Jeremy Affeldt for one single inning and then bringing in Brandon Medders — who has shown he can’t handle pressure situations — in a crucial situation.. Awesome.  And playing Torres AGAIN just because there is a lefty on the mound are just a few of the countless mistakes the Boch-meister has made.

REMINDER: Torres grounded into a double-play with two on and no one out in the third inning.

So, with a bevvy of right-handers tossing for the next three days we can finally sit back and watch a relatively strong lineup now that Bowker is back.. Oh wait, Eli Whiteside is catching? Here  we go again.

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO ACCOMPLISH:

  • FAIL – Hit McCutchen because he is really getting annoying:
  • CHECK – Uribe go down to his knees because of a massive swing: Every time he steps up to the plate.
  • CHECK – Whiteside get a single hit on base: He gives FS a big F-U with a 3-run jack in the bottom of the 2nd.
  • CHECK -Commit one error or less They committed zero.
  • CHECK -Win the game: 6-0.

LET’S PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!

12:51 – Sorry about being late to the blog, I was praying.. Rowand does what we pay him to do, be an outfielder. So far, so good.

12:52 – Just saw that McCutchen was on at second, he reached via walk. Come on Sanchez, you know what you have to do.

12:57 – Wired Wednesday? Awesome! Here’s to nine innings of hearing Rowand tell us: “I couldn’t tell how hard he hit that, I couldn’t tell.”

1:02 – End of the first, 0-0. This FIRE-SABEAN Live Game Blog is brought to you by:

1:05 – Rowand couldn’t figure out another line drive to centerfield.. lol, wow I guess I was right. (See 12:57)

1:08 – During the break I was seriously looking at Huff’s stats and was reminded he had not had a homerun. Huff then hit an inside the park home run. More on that later, congrats though Huff you earned that jack.

1:15 – There’s a reason I put him on the checklist and as the main image: Whiteside hits 3-run jack to double his career RBI total!!! Giants up 4-0, wow!

1:17 – After two innings it’s SF up 4-0. Huff is in the Bonds-mode of “If you hit a ‘routine’ pop-up you need to slam your bat down and walk to first”. If you are reading this: STOP IT. I love watching cuts of you in the dugout, especially since your producing decently out there, I’m learning to like you as a player despite your past.. but run it out. Same thing for when you hit inside-the-park-homeruns, lol.

1:25 – This Giants bobblehead commercial is one of the better sports commercials I have ever seen.

1:35 – Kruk and Keip are talking about the park and how beautiful and awesome it is. After finally coming back to the yard last week, I am still in awe of the park. The history written and displayed all around the park, the views, the coke bottle and glove, it really does feel like home field. Pac Bell4lyfe!

1:41 – Giants up 4-0, bottom of the 4th.. Jonathan Jekyll Sanchez seems to be on the mound today. Thank goodness.

1:47 – Well lookie there! The 2010 Census is a proud sponsor of the Giants too!

1:52 – Whiteside 2-for-2 now with a double. This guy really knows I called him out today.

1:54 – Rowand hit’s a two-run yoke to left. Rowand, Whiteside and Huff, the three guys I am skeptic as hell about have hit homers today. Glad to be proven wrong. Bye Bye Baby.

1:59 – TWEET OF THE GAME: “I wanna like the Sharks, but it’s just not captivating me like beginning of Giants season.” Thank you Bensenb, it was like you were in my brain. This update has been brought to you by Twitter, your ground zero to join the fight: http://twitter.com/FireSabean AND the 2010 Census:

2:03 – LOL. After Sanchez takes a line-drive to his left butt cheek you can hear a heckler saying “You’re alright, you’re OK!” that made me lol. Then, Krukow says the bruise can make for a good towel fight later. I won’t comment on that.

2:06 – Sanchez has just walked the bases loaded. I’m having really bad flashbacks right now.

2:12 – Huff hits another 420-foot bomb to right-center, this time for a double. Looks like he’s surpassing his image:
Just so you know Huff is the one on the right.

2:19 – I keep skipping ahead and thinking about this week’s matchup against the Dodgers. I can’t wait to see this rivalry again.

2:24 – Jekyll Sanchez has 10 STRIKEOUTS through seven! 10! Just like how many questions are in your 2010 U.S. Census, don’t forget to mail them back!

2:29 – Bottom of the 7th, Giants up 6-0 and Rowand gets another infield single. Shouldn’t they scoot up in the infield a little?

2:38 – Cruisin right along, top of the 8th, Giants up 6-0

2:43 – I hate the Dodgers.

2:46 – Kruk and Kuip discussing how hard it is to keep your eye sharp when you get 1 at-bat ever 3-4 days as Schierholtz steps up to the plate. Their way of saying, dump Torres and just rotate Bowker with Schierholtz being there for back-to-backs, blowouts etc. while he regians footing.

2:54 – Great win, proved we are a much better team than the Pirates in this series. It’s not saying much, but we need to run trains over teams like Houston and Pittsburgh if we want to establish dominance in the West.

2:55 – Wilson ends the 9th with two strikeouts, game over.

GIANTS WIN 6-0, Live Blog goes 2-0.

Simple solution. dump both, sign Dye, keep bowker and schierholtz and give velez a little more face time.
