4.9.10: Is this game serious? GIANTS win 5-4!

The slide is greased up, the weather is perfect and the fries are garliccy — this all means one thing: WE’RE BACK!

Hang out with us all day as we go through the first pitch to the final strike out (hopefully at the hands of Brian Wilson), as it’s time for baseball again!

The Giants are 3-0, the bats are connecting, the strikes are striking but let’s see how we do against a good team. This is the true test, this.. is OPENING DAY.

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO ACCOMPLISH:

• CHECK – Initiate Heyward into the big leagues.: Strikes out tin the top of the 2nd, then in the 4th.. then in the 6th, then in the 10th.
• CHECK – Hit one homerun: Renteria, bottom of the 9th, down 2. Wow!
• CHECK – Hear “He’s a bum” from the bleachers: During the DeRosa at-bat in the bottom of the 2nd.
• CHECK – Hear the DIBS guy once: I heard him during a 2-out bottom of the first battle w. Sanchez lookin’ scary.
• CHECK – Win the game: The first live blog goes 5-for-5 (Renteria status) Giants win 5-4.

12:40 – Chipper Jones is out today. So far, so good!

1:13 – I don’t know what’s cooler: My Jon Miller bobblehead or the fact that the players just entered ATT like they won the World Series

1:23 – Someone laughed after announcing “We lost a couple Giants this offseason.” Ouch, bad timing and RIP everyone including Sue Burns.. You were all GREAT Giants.

1:30 – Is it disrespectful to turn the TV to mute during a Star Spangled Banner? Because I just did, thanks Matt Nathanson..On  a brighter note I don’t care if the Giants lose, I just saw Young throw to Rice on a baseball field.. My head just exploded and life is complete.

1:41 – Walk then basehit, looks like we need to get Steve Young back out there to show him how to pitch under pressure!

1:52 – In the past 10 minutes I learned that Edgar Renteria is really working hard, I still have a heartrate of 240 bpm after that Sanchez stint and Pablo enjoys grounders to short.. a lot.

2:00 – Sanchez dirties up Heyward in his Bay Area debut. Welcome to the bigs, kid. Pablo later makes a throwing error to first base.. Why do I See a trend developing?

2:09 – Amy G calling Steve: “Jerry Rice’s partner”; and “You had a little role reversal today playing catcher.. how was that for you.” Nice Amy. She than began giggling like a little girl who just saw this guy:

2:20 – Invincibility cloak has been burnt off. Braves lead 2-0, Renteria bobbles a ball and all is seemingly back to normal in the bay area.

2:30 – Tweet of the day goes to: sfgiantsfan021. In the bottom of the 3rd, after Troy Hudson rolls through his eighth out, he says  “Well if the Giants lose, at least I’ll get to see a perfect game”. That’s funny.

BOCHY MISTAKE NUMBER 1: Warming up Medders after he showed his arm isn’t up to par in the last series. Seriously?
2:40 – For the first time in Krukow’s tenure of calling games he finally said: “Stay Hot” to Renteria.. Today is a good day.

2:41 – Pablo grounds into a double play. Another slow grounder, another double play. I’m telling you Edgar Renteria somehow stole Pablo’s hitting and Pablo got Renteria’s abilities. Today is not a good day.

2:48 – Headlines include: Pablo continues slow start, the Braves really are good, home-field woes have begun. Dear God, here comes Medders with two on.. We all know how this ends.

2:53 – Giants losing now 3-0.. Medders runs allowed: 1. Crisis Averted. Medders not bad, not good.. but not bad.

2:58 – Creepy Cove Cam creeping up on a chick in a bathing suit on top of a boat while Kuiper gets aroused on camera lol.. at least there’s humor.

3:07 – Is Medders of yesteryear back? He looked great, maybe he’s not so bad afterall..

3:21 – Still 3-0.. Top of the 7th…. ….

3:29 – Freaky Friday — “Stay hot Edgar Renteria” Two times in one game? Something is wrong here.. Renteria is HEALTHY!!!

3:32 – Giants trail 3-2 score 2 runs on 2 dribblers to the 2nd basemen.. Pablo again hits his 3rd grounder in the infield.. We scored but seriously? Quote from my friend, a Braves fan:

3:44 – Velez sighting, another Bochy Mistake?

3:59 – Just found out our old hitting coach Carney Lansford is now a CSN analyst.. lol wow.

4:04 – According to sfgiantsfan021, our new live analyst, there is about half of the stadium is left. Looks like FS flags are waving a little higher.

4:10 – That whole thing Velez thing I said.. lol, just kidding.

4:16 – Like I said STAY HOT RENTERIA! He ties it up with a two-run jack, He’s got magic inside!

4:34 – I spent the entire 10th inning doing this:

5:04 – I’m still enjoying this golden sombrero image from above.. 4-4 12th inning.

5:11 – The shadows have come over home plate and this reminds of late season baseball circa September.. Here we go!

5:13 – Ishikawa messes up a clutch situation, Panda looks winded.. Whiteside at the plate.. Sounds like last year all over again.

5:23 – 29 years later Bobby Cox can still have a good barking match with the best of em. Great TV, thanks for waking me up.

5:31 – So I chose to do a live game blog on a 4+ hour game. Yeesh.

5:39- Rowand hits the catcher with a bat, then grounds to the shortstop for the game-winner. Uhhmm CHECK out the post game this is FINISHED
