POST-GAME: Tweet-Up, “The Man” holding us down, and baseball!

Well I have no idea where to start. Fire Sabean made its first “official” appearance at AT&T Park yesterday and what a day it was.

I talked with a lot of great people who really knew their Giants, along with people who didn’t know they were even at AT&T Park.

See, when you are promoting something — especially something negative — you get stares and feedback from 95% of the people you pass. Here are my favorite run-in of the night (that we got pictures of).

I tried to get Lou to hold up the shirt and he backed off and said no way, but he was nice enough to take a funny picture.

HIGHLIGHTS
We started by pre-gaming in the parking lot and ran into a man looking to buy tickets, somehow we then had a 30-minute conversation about the Giants and 49ers.. No picture, but what a great human being.

We made it to the tweetup fashionably late and immediately made our way to the free popcorn. Just like the beginning of a school dance, I was shy at first.. you know, feelin’ out the crowd. Then after getting more popcorn, I found my spot right before the entrance to triples alley.

I held up the shirt and got generally positive comments; several people asked “who is that guy?” A woman argued with me that we are winning right now and I’m an idiot for wanting to fire Sabean. I explained to her that 20 games does not equal the past 15 years of complete failure. We exchanged verbal blows before she walked off, shaking her head.

@Gorneaux was nice enough to introduce himself to me, nice guy, wish we coulda talked longer.
I saw @sfgiantsgrl giving us dirty looks.. WE DON’T HATE THE TEAM! just the front office :)
A few other people came up to us and were super cool, I even found out we have a follower that is 5 years old.. Purely awesome.

Random shot of the guy who made the FS logo:

10 minutes before our walk on the field a man in a suit came up to me and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was advertising and he asked “What’s in the backpack?” I told him shirts, he asked if I was selling them. I said, “No way man, I’m not that stupid.” He then stood next to me for the next 15 minutes, he wouldn’t take a picture with us.

We walked on the field…

Our last Twitter encounter was with @somewhereinsf. We were chatting about the game when a guy, clearly drunk, came up to us and yelled at us and told us that Sabean is doing a great job and that our team is amazing. Somewhereinsf bluntly said: “ARE YOU SERIOUS? IT’S APRIL!” I lol’d.

We spread a lot of gospel yesterday, the Giants won and I bought a $9 beer. Success.

MAN OF THE NIGHT:

Guy had the cancer awareness ribbon shaved into his head, if only it was pink!! Nonetheless, awesome stuff.

IN SUMMATION:

Giants fans are awesome. The ones that don’t even know who Sabes is, the ones who think Sabean is God and the ones who hate him. We all are apart of one group, one fanbase. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I’m just a guy trying to spread mine.

My final thought: It’s amazing how a few weeks of winning can blind the average fan to years and years of f-ups. Honestly, it seemed like those who supported Sabean were so proud of this year, and that since Zito is 4-0 this year his $126-million contract is SOOO worth it.

Zito is good, but he effects 20% of our season and even if he goes 20-0 it’s not worth 126 million.  Bottom line.

IT WAS FUN SEEING EVERYONE.. UNTIL NEXT TIME!!

I’m really only doing this to sell tee shirts. In secret, I have a boy crush on Sabean and would love it if he and Bochy would tag team me on a nice little hike up Brokeback Mountain.

You are absolutely right–he should have been fired years ago–He lied about Freddie Sanchez. Total incompetence coupled with arrogance–what a combo. I want a tee shirt–where can I can one?
