Giants Recall Eugenio Velez..
He’s dominating in AAA recently but guys like Brett Pill and John Bowker can only watch as the guy who made quite possibly the two worst plays in the 2010 season is back.
Yup, 3 home runs 19 RBI and an OPS of .788 in 58 games is much better than 11 HR, 57 RBI and a .774 OPS in 93 games. Let me guess, is it because he has big league experience?
So what’s the reason for no Bowker..?
Not only do they epically make the roster move one-day after potentially losing a game because of it, but they give us Velez.. Again.. As for the “we need a middle-infielder” argument, Velez had six errors in 31 games and second base last year and one in 10 games this year.
Time to fire up the Matt Downs tribute video again.
Sorry Pill, Bowker and Matt, you have been Schierholtz’d.. But wait? My friend Hank Schulman said they could be doing this to showcase Velez.. oh boy.. even better!

I think the giants picked up Velez because they need middle infield depth. The only middle infielders that they have are Uribe, Renteria, and Sanchez. The only other options were Matt Downs and Ryan Rohlinger but I don’t believe that they are all that much better. The Giants are possibly hoping he can catch fire like he did last season. or they are doing like your buddy Schulman says and are showcasing him.
In any case Bowker and Pill aren’t coming up until the rosters expand or Aaron Rowand goes on the DL after hurting himself while getting off the bench.

The move makes sense to an extent, but Matt Downs has better number than Velez and as for the middle-infielder argument, Velez had committed 6 errors in 31 games last year and 1 in 10 this year…
In other words he’s not very good.

Haha showcase Velez, are we trading him for a bag of peanuts?

What about Brandon Belt??? Haven’t we learned that young guns can deliver aka Buster Posey and MadBum. When will the Giants ever learn???

We won’t see Belt for about 10 more years
