OK first off, I am pretty cheesed at Giants beat reporter Andrew Baggarly.
During his post-game blog he was talking about Denny Bautista, which was fine, but he finished up with a joke:
By the way, if Bautista ever gives up a bases-loaded home run, you could call it a Denny’s Grand Slam Special.Bah-dum-dum.
Well, earlier in the evening I had tweeted:
Denny’s on pace to give up grand slam.. get it??
So @Extrabaggs or shall I say @CopycatBaggs what do you have to say for yourself? I have e-mailed you and your editor, this isn’t over Baggs, not by a long shot! BTW I am in no way proud of this mediocre joke, but to have Baggs steal it.. well, that’s a different story.

I hate to digress from my Bengie post, but you’ve had a great career.. I mean you literally won a World Series. I applaud your heart, but baseball is about skill.

The World Series with the Marlins, your 100-RBI season with the Cardinals and the All-Star game with the Braves. What a career!

What was more frustrating, though, was what our buddy Bruce Bochy had to say.
I had a good talk with Edgar. He expressed his disappointment. The last couple games, he felt like he could’ve helped us and he didn’t.
Really Bruce? The last couple? In his past 7 games he’s 3-for-27.. He’s had two RBI since May 6 (54 AB’s). OK, well you only kind of made yourself look like an idiot.. At least you stopped talking right?
He’s had setbacks, but he’s shown he still has game left. More important is his attitude — what he thinks.
What.
This whole thing with the vets has turned into a sick obsession. How many times do you think he sat Nate down and said, “Listen, you’re young. Work on this, this and this and keep fighting. But more importantly, what do you think?”
In case you missed it the first 1,000 times I’ve said it, we will not go anywhere with Bochy as our manager and this is the exact reason why.

Speaking of Randy, he gave up the game-tying run after an error in the outfield that capped off the Rockies unbelievable nine-run, ninth-inning comeback last night. Yeah, I guess he’s on the Cardinals now.. Yup.. Randy Winn..

It’s unlike Baggs to be stealing jokes, he is normally such a down to earth guy who gives some good stuff. But I guess you need another fued with the local media.
On to the topic, for some reason I still feel like Renteria does have something left in the tank that can help the Giants. He hasn’t been hitting well lately but not so bad as to be a total negative, he still finds ways to get on base at a decent clip and he somehow still manages to be one of the most clutch hitters in baseball.
He certainly has lost a step or two and his defense is down but compared to the alternatives I don’t mind him as the back up shortstop. He only has one year left on the contract so it isn’t like he will stick around even after he is washed up like Rowand. He beats Manny Burris so at least he has that going for him.

Yeah, nothing like a beat-writer rivalry to stir up the ratings, lol.
But yah, I think the bunt out was the last straw. Since the beginning of May his numbers are pretty terrible, so it’s hard to hold out any faith in the guy. His OBP is at .306 since coming back from the injury and he’s had two RBI.
I agree with the backup but with Uribe broken, Renteria’s flaws are going to continue to shine.

If you check it’s not “constant” bitching and I in fact have praised Sabes and Co. for moves like Uribe and Huff.

Classy with the name calling, but no, I hate the front office. I have been a life-long Giants fans, I own a program with Rod Beck on the cover from 1994. I’ve said this before, I want to be proven wrong but I don’t think Sabean has the ability to build a championship team.
