This Is Our Future
This was from my POST-GAME yesterday:
In the seventh, Escobar failed to turn a double play, or actually failed to turn, with one out and the bases loaded which led to a huge four runs for the Giants.
Substitute Escobar with Counsell, change it from the seventh to the sixth, and make it five runs not four and you have the exact same game. Even the exact same score: 6-1.
Oh yeah, throw in the fact that 20-year-old Madison Bumgarner threw a 3-hit, 8-inning beauty. I just love saying his name.. Bumgarner, Bum…. MadBum.. Bummy, Big Time Bummy Jim.. OK I’ll stop.
It’s too bad it took a Wellemeyer injury and a Martinez stutter to get him up here.. Thanks Sabes.. But he’s here folks. I won’t comment on Bochy’s decision to let Madison hit in the eighth but not finish off a complete game shut out.
Let’s get a reality check though, Pablo still swings at the first pitch and shows terrible discipline, Renteria and Rowand are a combined 7-for-47, and the Giants got lucky once again. But in the words of me yesterday:
So many kinks to work out, so many “WTF” moments, so much terrible baseball, but for some reason a win against the Brewers seems extra special. Maybe because we’re supposedly targeting their entire franchise.. Maybe because I’m still bitter because of the choreographed crapfest last year…
OK enough narcissism, time to quote my good friend Vin Diesel:
It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or by a mile.. Winning’s winning.
Let’s see if this works tonight: Now if you’ll excuse me I have some hardcore VHS watching to do tonight:

I’ve been impressed with MadBum. He’s gone deep into the game all 3 starts. He gets a lot of swings and misses on the fastball and his offspeed pitches have progressed.

BTW Baggs mentions Ryan Theriot as a possible trade acquisition. What do you think? We could use some SS help.

I’m not sold on Theriot, I mean if we can get him for a relief pitcher or something cheap that’d be fine.. But yes I do agree we need mad help at short.
I know Burress is progressing, but he’s kind of like Shaun Livingston and it may take a while to get something going..
So if he can come cheap, great, but Baggs said Theriot isn’t even on Sabe’s radar..

I’d like TheRiot if we got him cheap and threw in Rent-A-Wreck!
