Rumor: Giants Claim Cody Ross

Nevermind the fact that his numbers are comparable to Aaron Rowand’s this year, this move has left people baffled.

It’s not confirmed yet, however.

We are overloaded on outfielders so this move could possible be a block against a competitor.

I mean he did have a few good years… And he doe have a cool name. But if this is the case, then I think we’ll be hearing the “Nate is a great player but just doesn’t fit for us” speech that FDot, Frandsen and Bowker got.

Again, maybe a change of scenery could spark something here, but with Torres, Burrell, Rowand, Guillen, Huff? Nate and now Ross, I don’t understand.

  • Trade Deadline HEATS U-.. Whoa, What?

Eric brought this to my attention and let me just paraphrase my friend Hank Schulman,

Sabean downplayed the chances of a “blockbuster” deal before the deadline, saying, “I don’t see it presenting itself at this time, a) with the names out there, b) we’re not going to give up pitching and c) we’re not going to break the bank, especially for a rental. Do we have enough balls in the air to do something to help the ballclub? I hope so.

OK, I just copied and pasted but whatever. Anyone else imagine Sabean juggling balls while kicking tires and spouting out “I’m a big boy”?
