The San Francisco Giants seem to be rolling in Spring and even Edgar Renteria and Aubrey Huff are looking pretty good, maybe this is the year Sabean silences his critics.. In the same breath maybe this is the year we get out of our national debt.

Sure we have room for optimism: A top-notch rotation, new acquisitions that give us a little more power, Pablo.. But none of that matters if our GM and manager suck more than anyone wearing a Manny jersey.

Sports Illustrated is at least on the same page as us, naming Sabes the 28th best GM in the league: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/tim_marchman/03/03/gm.rankings/index.html, you’ll find our boy on page two.As we hold our breath to see how the players develop, flashbacks of in-game mistakes by Bruce Bochy play through in my head. A pinch-runner not subbing in; an obvious bunt-situation not so obvious; Merkin Valdez pitching to Prince don’t stand on first-base because it’ll sink into the ground Fielder.

We CANNOT make the playoffs with this manager and we WILL NOT be successful with Sabean at the controls. We all know when the Barry Bonds wall fell so did the smokescreen that made Sabean appear intelligent. We know he holds onto his aging veterans while his puppet continues to start them (even though they are clearly injured and old). This cannot happen this year, we as fans need to make sure of it.

Go to the games with signs, heckle Bochy if you have 3rd-base dugout seats, write to your local sports guy at the paper. If they don’t see an uproar they won’t cover it.

We have a chance this season to make the voice of the people heard, no not on public healthcare, but on the health of our franchise. We’ve seen what the promiseland looks like and we will be back, but we have a long way to go.

Fire Sabean will make every effort to go out to the games and spread the word, but we need your help. Frequent the site, buy a shirt, paint your car. We don’t care as long as the media can get wind that the fans are not happy, not in the slightest.

With your help, this season we can finally Fire Sabean.

Prince getting plunked on the first pitch of his first at-bat was one of the many highlights so far as the Giants are cruising to a cool 2-0.. in Spring Training.

Thinking in this positive light (as it is a new season) I will give the Giants and Sabean a fresh start! Bochy however will never get a fresh start *cough sub-500 manager cough* Excuse me..

Here are a few other exciting things to look forward to this year:

- Jeremy Affeldt has established himself as a true bullpen stud and will continue to do so.

- We are one day closer to Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy’s last day.

- This year we seem to have picked up the scoring and clutch at-bats.. if you want to call being in front of 1,500 people staring at a pitcher who hasn’t thrown a ball this decade clutch.

- Kruk and Keip.

- I heard Zito and Lincecum vowed to roll a cigar-sized blunt every time they both win consecutive starts, if it helps Phelps get gold medals it has to help Zito’s efficiency.

- UUUUUUUU-RIIBBBEEEE chants.

- A season-long sweep against the ugliest blue in baseball.

- Tailgating on the pier, drinking a beer while peeing in the Bay.

- Spreading the word on Fire-Sabean, including our first appearance April 11th, Sunday vs. the Atlanta Braves!

What are you looking forward to this season?

OUCH.Sabean is now being criticized for not waiting it out and talking more to LaRoch instead of just pulling the plug. I mean, was anyone else really looking at Huff? Instead, the deal goes sour and Sabean does a “look what I can do” and quickly locks up another 1B — the Huff Express.

What do you think happened in this deal?

So did Sabean screw up by not being more patient? LaRoche had 25 homers and 85 RBI last year.

Or did LaRoche overvalue himself and had to suffer a major hit?

Personally, it’s tough to reel in big names as ATT is not a hitter-friendly place to play. But for LaRoche to suffer a $13-million loss immediately after we sign another first basemen? I think it’s two giant babies who are in over their heads.

Both end up looking like fools, not one.

So WE’RE BACK!

Oh, and Brian Sabean continues to top himself with move after.. *yawn* move in the off-season.

Mediocrity has struck again as Sabean pats himself on the back for the recent addition of Aubrey… Huff.

Granted the risk/reward aspect is relatively positive ($3 million for a possible .285 hitter) it still makes people wonder: What if we had La Roche instead of spending that money on Rowand?

Anyway, the future remains to be seen with Huff, but I hope we catch him on a good year.

All you have to do is check out Baseball-Reference.com to see that Huff is literally bipolar:

According to the Mercury News Bochy sees the top five hitters as such:

“The top five hitters, as Bochy sees it today: Aaron Rowand, Freddy Sanchez, Pablo Sandoval, Aubrey Huff, Mark DeRosa.”

Oh cool, I’m glad Aaron’s .261 with 15 homers and 64 RBI far outweighs Pablo’s FIRST FULL SEASON with a .330 average with 25 homers and 90 RBI.

Some things never change Bruce.

I’m actually surprised he didn’t put Renteria on that list.

Sabean also didn’t rule out siging a starting pitcher and starting Bumgarner in the minors. Yup, we pride ourselves in our farm league and continue to give young talent confidence or an opportunity that doesn’t involve being in the middle of chasing for the Wild Card.

Anyway back to Huff. He put up great numbers — at one point in his career. He’s not over the hill, but he has had one crazy up-and-down career. Baltimore Orioles fans saw him in a down year.

“I have to cling to the belief that we’ll find a take for (Huff), even if we eat the majority of his salary. I can’t stomach the idea of him in black and orange all year. If I cling to no other illusions about the Os this year, I’m sticking with that one.” http://www.camdenchat.com/2008/3/12/185050/598

Well your stint in the black and orange seemed to give you quite the enemy-base Dr. Jekyll, I hope we like you a little better than that.

Because you’re not part of the black and orange anymore; you’re with the orange and black.

Welcome.

Player-wise we saw the emergence of Pablo, a little excitement from Velez and Torres, and the introductions of Buster and Madison.

A great, young core. But we saw the overuse of Randy Winn and Edgar Renteria (who will be back). We saw the mediocrity of Aaron Rowand, and the mixed reaction of Bengie Molina.

Ryan Garko enjoyed spending time on the Pier during gamedays, while Freddy Sanchez enjoyed spending his time in a hospital.
Which transitions us to management. I have never seen a manager screw up so many times in game situations. What sickens me more is people still defend him. WAKE UP: In his 14-year career he is a sub-.500 manager!

“He is a winner,” people say. Really? He won what, two division titles? He sucks in the playoffs, he sucks in clutch situations, he sucks.

He is the only manager to blow two three-run leads in a playoff-destined game in the bottom of an inning against the same team while managing two separate teams. (vs. Rockies in 1-game playoff; vs. Rockies this season)

FIGURE that one out. So why not extend his contract! And now lets look at Brian Sabean.

His big moves involve Ryan Garko to try and replace Ishikawa and Sanchez who he knew was injured.

By the final weeks of the season Garko didn’t even dress and Sanchez (surprise, surprise) was hurt. Bold Sabes, bold!

Now all eyes are on the offseason and how he is going to tweak this team. This is going to show the entire world why we shouldn’t have gave his contract a second look.

He inherited Bonds and learned how to build around him, we don’t have him anymore yet we still love having aging veterans who hurt more than help.

Winn better go, Molina can go (unless he returns to share time with Buster and actually bats like a catcher in the 8-hole). I’d like to see Brad Penny back.. even though I’d never think I’d hear myself say that.

Say bye to Howry, Justin Miller, Fred Lewis and Merkin “walk-off the field” Valdez.

I know we won’t retain him, but Uribe was a pleasant surprise this year and it’d be nice to see him back.

The list goes on with wants and don’t wants but my opinion doesn’t matter.

Sabean I really hope you prove me wrong I really do.. But I have a sick feeling Bengie will be hitting fourth and Valdez will be sitting in the bullpen watching him strikeout.

The easy part of the season is over, now let’s see why someone, somewhere likes Sabean and thinks he can do well this offseason.

Bring it on.

No, I still have all four wheels on my radio-flyer intact And that girl at Coldstone did actually give me her number. So if it wasn’t one of those two things, I know what you’re thinking..

And sorry to disappoint all of you negative nancy’s, but yes, I am still STD-free.

The reason I am disappointed and crushed is because for some odd reason Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy will be re-signed for at least another year.

The fact that these two still have jobs in an economy where people with PhD’s are working customer service windows at the DMV baffles me.

Put yourself in the shoes of Bill Neukom, the Giants Managing General Partner, your team has outperformed 99.9% of “expert’s” predictions this year and managed to have their best season record-wise in 4 years — despite the braintrust’s best efforts to run the franchise into NL West inferiority.

So why not keep these guys around, right? I mean if we’re going off recent success, SABOCHY is 12 or 13 games above .500 and even had the squad in contention long enough to milk some more $24 view reserve seats out of us.

Should we just forget about the 380-426 record the team has had over the last 4 years? Not recent enough? What about the sub .500 record in 1-run games? Should we just forget about the contracts that sounded like jokes at first, but then made us shake our heads in disgust when we found out that the only joke here was on us: The fans.

No way. I’m not forgetting the name Joe Nathan anytime soon and neither are the Minnesota Twins. I’m not forgetting Merkin Valdez squinting down Prince Fielder’s 450 ft. bomb as it flew over the wall in Milwaukee along with our chances to stir things up in October. I will never forget the sinking feeling in my heart when hearing that sport’s greatest franchise (OK, I may be biased) will continue to be led astray into an abyss of baseball disappointment.

1954. We better not forget that year my faithful orange and black, as it doesn’t look like we’ll be planning any late October road trips for awhile.
